PROGRAMS AND SERVICES
HACM has more than 40 years experience in building innovative and award-winning partnerships with economic development and supportive service agencies. These strong partnerships have produced positive and productive results for our residents.

Public Safety - HACM's Public Safety team operates 24/7 and works with residents, neighbors, the Milwaukee Police Department, the Milwaukee Fire Department and others to ensure that HACM's properties are safe and healthy environments. To reach the Public Safety dispatch center, call 414-286-5100.

Homeownership Program - HACM's Homeowneship Program has helped hundreds of low-income persons realize their dream of becoming homeowners. program also rehabs homes for purchase by qualified buyers.

Day Care - In order to provide our families with the necessary flexibility to go to school and work, HACM partners with three licensed day care providers in three developments. Tomorrow's Future Early Childhood Center (414-276-8332) is located in the Hillside Family Resource Center, Day Care Services for Children is located within the Parklawn Development, and the Elaine Schreiber Child Development Center is located within the Westlawn neighborhood.

Youth and Family Services - The same three developments also have strong affiliations with agencies that provide a full menu of services for children, youth and families. The Parklawn YMCA is located at Parklawn, the Pieper-Hillside Boys and Girls Club is located within the Hillside Family Resource Center, and the Silver Spring Neighborhood Center is at Westlawn.

HACM's Education Initiative began in 2005 as part of an effort to revitalize HACM's Highland Park Development and eventually was expanded to scattered sites public housing.The program uses home visits, report card and attendance data, mentoring, tutoring and referrals for each family to reinforce the importance of academic achievement and parental involvement. A customized plan is developed for each child and is tracked through specified benchmarks. Since 2005, youth in the Initiative have achieved a 92% high school graduation rate.

On-Site Schools - Two schools are located within HACM developments to provide educational support for neighborhood families. The Central City Cyberchool is a K4 through 8th grade public school, chartered by the City of Milwaukee and located in the Parklawn Family Development. At Westlawn, Browning Elementary School is affiliated with the Milwaukee Public Schools and located within the Silver Spring Neighborhood Center (SSNC). Browning serves children from pre-kindergarten through 5th grade. The SSNC partners with Browning to offer academic enrichment programming Monday through Friday during the school year through the Community Learning Center (CLC) program.

Adult Education - Milwaukee Area Technical College offers GED preparation and adult basic education at the Hillside Family Resource Center and the Silver Spring Neighborhood Center offers English as a Second Language, Basic Skills, a computer lab, and Adult Education courses. In addition, Milwaukee Achievers offers basic reading skills and GED classes at SSNC.

Scholarships - HACM provides scholarships of up to $2,000 per year to public housing residents participating in post-secondary education. Download the scholarship application here.

Services for Seniors and Persons with Disabilities - Since 1933, HACM has partnered with SET to provide case management and other services to seniors and disabled adults who live in HACM's buildings. Every year, SET assists more than 1,300 public housing residents by assessing their needs, determining their eligibility for programs and services, and linking them to critical resources. SET also case manages many residents eligible for the State of Wisconsin's Family Care program, which helps frail seniors and persons with disabilities to age in their homes

Senior Meal Sites - HACM developments host five senior meal sites managed by the Milwaukee County Department on Aging. Persons 60+ can participate in the low or no-cost meal programs at the United Community Center's Senior Center at Olga Village, Convent Hill, Lapham Park, Arlington Court and College Court.

Neighborhood Network Computer Centers - HACM operates six computer centers to help ensure digital inclusion for all persons. The Centers emphasize the development of basic computer skills, responsible use of the Internet, social media and email. Locations (hours of operation are posted at each):

Health Care - There are two health clinics located within or adjacent to HACM developments. Progressive Community Health Center, a federally-qualified health center (FQHC), is located within the Hillside Family Resource Center. The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Nursing operates a clinic at the Silver Spring Neighborhood Center.

Employment & Economic Self-Sufficiency - HACM offers a wide range of programs to assist public housing residents in increasing the employment and economic self-sufficiency. These include:

• Section 3 Program that connects low-income individuals with employment opportunitis
• Family Self-Sufficiency Program (FSS) that works with qualified participants to develop, review and monitor a 5-year individualized self-sufficiency plan
