YouthBuild is a U.S. Department of Labor-funded non-residential, community-based alternative education program that provides job training and educational opportunities for at-risk youth ages 16-24. Youth learn construction skills while constructing or rehabilitating affordable housing for low-income or homeless families in their own neighborhoods. Youth split their time between the construction site and the classroom, where they earn their GED or high school diploma, learn to be community leaders, and prepare for college and other postsecondary training opportunities. YouthBuild includes significant support systems, such as mentoring, follow-up education, employment, and personal counseling services; and participation in community services and civic engagement. HACM's YouthBuild program is subcontracted through the Milwaukee Area Workforce Investment Board to train 21 youth in the construction trades. Learn more about YouthBuild at www.youthbuild.org. If you have specific questions, please call HACM YouthBuild at (414) 286-2968 or the Telecommunications Relay Service (TRS) number 711. Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities. This program is funded through the Department of Labor, and HACM YouthBuild is an Equal Opportunity Program..
