WHAT IS RAD? The Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee (HACM) is currently assessing the value of the RAD program to HACM, its residents and the City of Milwaukee. Information about this process will continue to be updated on this web page. |

KEY POINTS ABOUT THE RAD PROGRAM ~ After conversion from public housing to Section 8, residents continue to pay no more than 30% of their income for rent. ~ RAD will provide defined and more secure project subsidy from HUD. ~ RAD allows housing authorities to borrow money and use Low-Income Housing Tax Credits and other financing to renovate and repair properties. ~ Public housing residents who are lease compliant cannot be displaced if the property they live in is converted to RAD. ~ Residents may still participate in Family Self-Sufficiency and Resident Opportunities and Self-Sufficiency (ROSS) programs. ~ Resident councils would continue to exist and would continue to receive resident participation funding. |
